Newtek Video Toaster
Newtek's Video Toaster2 is a powerful production studio
in one convenient box. NewTek joins the fray with a Live Switcher, 3D
Animation, Non-Linear Editor, Digital Disc Recorder as well as a Live
Keyer. All this runs through one simple PCI card. Newtek's approach
is different in that all their applications are software based. The
operation is dependant on CPU strength and system speed.
The Toaster's base is the multi format file compression as well as uncompressed
video capture. The toaster comes with two non-linear editors, ToasterEdit
and Speed Razor 4.5. Bring video in through a combination of inputs,
SDI (option), Component Video, Y/C as well as composite. ToasterEdit
works exclusively in a realtime environment.
The Toaster 2 Standard system is a dual function system. A complete
post production edit suite as well as a multi-input live video switcher.
Two hundred ninety two GB's of A/V storage allows for ample room for
post production. (Approximately four hours of uncompressed video, or
twenty-two hours of DV compression)
The strength of this system lies within Dual Xeon engine. Multiple processors
utilize RAM intensive applications to render while the live switcher
is in use. Create beautiful 3D animations using Lightwave, or multi-layered
graphics with Aura. Create an executable video using the DDR and plug
it directly into the switcher as a source. Use the key tool to insert
motion backgrounds or a virtual set. Place the items on the timeline,
without having to render. Toaster Vision gives a realtime video preview,
with a RGB vectorscope for color correction. This is the complete production
package.

The Toaster Switching system is just that, a live video switcher. We
have designed this system so that it can be operated for any event.
The SX8 Breakout Box multiple I/O allows for up to eight component devices,
eight Y/C inputs, or twenty four composite inputs. Separate audio controls
are available and controlled by a multiple input virtual mixer. The
SX8 offers multiple program outputs reducing the need for external distribution
amplifiers which could degrade the signal. All routing is done through
the software interface for error free connectivity.
The switcher interface is easy to use and operate. Program
bus, preview bus and keying options are just a click away. The T-Bar
gives the interface the look and feel of an expensive production switcher.
The Toaster Switcher is designed to be solely used as
a switcher system. It has the capabilities to edit in a DV environment;
however, the limited hard space is already allocated for Toaster 2 content.
For a switcher system using a complete edit suite, look at the Toaster
2 Supreme.
